Project management & Quartermaster

The main difference explained…

Generally spoken project management takes care of handing over an entire project which exists of known deliverables within an agreed upon time schedule when the project ‘kicks-off’. A project managers toolbox also contains several methodologies and best-practices to accomplish that goal (e.g. Agile, SCRUM, PRINCE2, LEAN) but he or she can also opt for a combination of methodologies.

A quartermaster however is sent on it's way with nothing more than ‘just an idea’ or 'a rough mission direction’. It's the quartermasters task to bring potential stakeholders together and getting them interested and involved in reaching that new common goal. If all the preparatory work is finished the deliverables however are eligible to be handed over to a project manager.

So if you're short of project management support or looking out for a quartermaster who does not shy away from a challenge or adventure….
